A 45-year-old tradesman, who lived upstairs his businessplace, was found dead by a customer today.
Krishna Sookdeo, a straightener and painter, was found lying on a mattress covered in a pool of blood around 9a.m.
Police said Sookdeo, of Cadiz Road, Rio Claro, suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators believe the motive was robbery as a large sum of cash was reportedly missing from Sookdeo's house. Sookdeo, who lived alone, was last seen alive on Thursday, at around 5p.m.
Police said a customer arrived yesterday and found Sookdeo's garage gates locked. He opened the gate and called out to him.
The customer told police he walked up the stairs and saw Sookdeo's feet protruding from a bedroom door. He found Sookdeo lying on the bloodied mattress.
A team of officers led by ASP Odette Lewis and officers from the Rio Claro Police Station visited the scene. The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
Homicide detectives are investigating.
