Baby pains during Amery’s speech
Diego Martin Central MP Amery Browne became a father early yesterday morning.
Browne had to cut short his address at the PNM meeting on Thursday night because his wife, Sarah’s labour pains began during his fiery speech.
“By tomorrow the number of PNM members would have grown by one. That glorious moment of the arrival of his first child is here,” political leader Dr Keith Rowley said, as Browne concluded his speech.
Browne told the Express yesterday that his wife gave birth to a son, a little over five pounds. He said mother and child were doing well.
On Thursday night, speaking from the platform Browne said the People’s Partnership came to power on a campaign of untruths. He said four years of “Queen Kamla and the Head Mister in charge” has been a bitter chapter in the country’s history. “Transgressions, deceit and deception ruled the day.
“Jack say he screened all his candidates meticulously, he didn’t check them for Barettas (guns) apparently,” Browne said.
“Look at the amount of money they spending on ads. They invading cable (TV) now. Yuh can’t watch a show in peace. ILP all in yuh face. They spending like crazy,” he said.
Browne said one wants a few more years in the palace, while another was trying to avoid the Americas. “They want to use high office as a protective shield to avoid what is coming. But they can’t stop it because the red army is on its way,” he said.
Browne said unlike the UNC/COP partnership and the ILP, the PNM was motivated by noble ideals. He said Diego Martin would breathe no life into the dead lungs of the jaundiced yellow corpse or into the gangrenous lungs of the green corpse or the COP’s corpse.
Browne said Jack Warner felt that winning in Chaguanas West cleared him of all wrongdoing, “like taking a dip in the river Jordan”. “He feels he no longer has to answer to the Soca Warriors, or for the firetruck, or the corruption in PURE,” he said.
Browne said ILP was using failed councillors who had jumped from party to party, “political pipsqueaks” who were motivated by all of the wrong emotions such as hate.
He said Warner and the UNC were playing a game of who more corrupt than who and who has to clear their name before the other. “They are locked in a death embrace, struggling to choke each other into silence, struggling with rigueur mortis as it sets in”, he said. He said the People’s Partnership’s control of the Diego Martin Corporation was characterised by internecine warfare between UNC and COP members, poor performance and hiding from burgesses.
