Bail for man charged with dangerous driving

ANDRE Mitchell faced the court on Wednesday charged with causing the deaths of neighbours Katemati Rampersad and Hassim Ramjohn.

Both residents of Felicity died in a car accident last Friday night on the north-bound lane of Solomon Hochoy Highway, near Chase Village flyover.

Ramjohn, 52, died at the scene and his friend and neighbour, Rampersad, 59, succumbed to her injuries at Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex hours later.

On Wednesday, Mitchell faced the Chaguanas Third Court charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was placed on $40,000 bail and the matters transferred to the First Court for January 30.

Rampersad was cremated yesterday and Ramjohn's final rites were done on New Year's Day.
