Bakr gets second summons
Jamaat-al-Muslimeen leader Yasin Abu Bakr has been served a second summons to appear before the commission of enquiry into the July 27, 1990 attempted coup on September 23.
At yesterday’s commission of enquiry, Sir David Simmons said, “A letter of summons was served to Yasin Abu Bakr personally on September 9 and the return date is September. We hope he will attend, bearing in mind that he was one of the principal players in what took place in 1990. We look forward to having Bakr on the 23rd.”
Standing letters were sent to former prime minister Basdeo Panday, who attended yesterday.
The enquiry will run until September 26.
