Bandit breaks into Ramdial's SUV

By Gyasi Gonzales

MEMBER of Parliament for Couva North Ramona Ramdial's car was broken into last Friday night by a thief who stole her purse containing $500, a pair of sunglasses and an empty Parliament bag while her vehicle was parked at Price Plaza, Chaguanas.

Ramdial yesterday called on the owners of shopping centres to play their part in stopping crime by having proper security measures at their business places.

Ramdial, who is also the Minister in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, spoke to the Sunday Express yesterday as she described what happened.

She said around 9 p.m., she walked out the Ruby Tuesday restaurant, walked over to her Toyota Prado and noticed its rear window had been smashed, and two bags that were in the backseat were gone.

Ramdial said she went to the Chaguanas Police Station where she reported the theft.

She said while making the report, someone found her bag and dropped it off at the station.

She said her vehicle was dusted for fingerprints.

"It seems to me that nothing deters them," she said of the thief.

"Crime knows no colour, no race, anything because anyone can be a victim, but I will say that this incident is not going to deter me in fighting the good fight against crime in my constituency, and if anything, I have learned from this experience."

Chaguanas CID officers are continuing investigations.
