Beaten man taken off life support

A 33-year-old man allegedly beaten on the head by a male relative last week was taken off life support by his family yesterday.
Darryl La Borde, of Robert Street, Bank Village, Carapichaima, suffered massive head injuries and was in a comatose condition at the Intensive Care Unit of the San Fernando General Hospital.
Police said his family was informed that his brain was severely damaged and he was hooked up to life support.
La Borde’s relatives agreed to remove him from life support, but asked that his kidneys first be donated. Surgery was performed yesterday to remove La Borde’s kidneys. He was then taken off from life support.
Police said La Borde recently moved to the relative’s home.
La Borde and the male relative were involved in an argument last Friday and he was struck on the head.
The 68-year-old male relative was questioned by police. The killing has not been categorised as a homicide.
