Bitten baby 'doing fine'

BABY JINAYAH, who was allegedly bitten by her father last week Sunday, was operated on at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex on Thursday and said to be doing very well according to a source at the hospital.

The source, who only wanted to be identified as a senior public officer, told the Express the child's cheek and leg were treated "extensively" by doctors at the hospital's paediatric ward.

He lamented however that social services were a bit unresponsive in dealing with this case. Arrangements had to be made for a grant to be given to the child's mother, Tineka Henry.

He said that with Jinayah's father currently remanded at the St Ann's Hospital for observation, the mother has no income available to see about her daughter.
