A BODY found along M2 Ring Road in Debe on Thursday is believed to be that of a 75-year-old Debe grandfather who went missing last month.
For the family of Chandreka Persad, who had been searching for him since January 27, the find brought closure.
“We had been searching everywhere for him. At least we got closure,” Persad’s son-in-law, Kenny Ragoo, told the Express yesterday.
The skeletal remains were discovered some 30 metres off the roadway, with a pair of jeans, a belt, and an inhaler nearby.
Persad’s family was contacted and they identified the clothing and inhaler as his.
The family also told police that Persad suffered from asthma and used medication daily for his condition.
The bones were discovered at around 3.30 p.m. on Thursday by a surveyor who was conducting work for a building project.
Officers of San Fernando Police Station were contacted and the bones were taken to the mortuary of San Fernando General Hospital.
Persad, an ex-Caroni (1975) Limited worker, was a father of seven and grandfather of ten.
Persad was last seen alive by his family when he was dropped off on Mucurapo Street, San Fernando.
