Body found in Barrackpore house: suicide suspected

The decomposing body of a man was found inside a house in Barrackpore yesterday.
Police believe the man, identified only as Parmesar, committed suicide as a bottle containing a poisonous weedicide was found near his body.
Neigbours contacted police following a foul stench emanating from the house around 12.55 p.m. yesterday.
Officers opened the front door and found the man sitting in an upright position on a chair, leaned against a table. He was not wearing any clothing.
Neighbours said the man lived alone at his house along New Colonial Road. He never interacted with villagers, police said.
The body was viewed by a district medical officer and removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James, where an autopsy would be performed to determine to cause of death.
Barrackpore police are continuing investigations.
