Bogus taxi-driver robs passengers

POLICE are searching for two thieves who posed as a taxi-driver and passenger and robbed two Fyzabad men of cash and cellphones yesterday.

A police report said that around 3.50 a.m., Ricky Lalchan and Dillon Chankar, both of Avocat Village, were robbed of two cellphones valued $1,300.

The victims told police that they boarded a B-14 Nissan Sentra and sat in the back seat of the vehicle.

They said while travelling in the car along Southern Main Road, La Romaine, the driver and a front seat passenger announced a hold-up.

Lalchan and Chankar handed over their cellphones and $30.

The thieves stopped the vehicle the vicinity of Potato Trace and ordered the victims out.

The thieves then drove off.

A report was made at San Fernando Police Station and PC Perreira is investigating.
