A 15-YEAR-old boy and an 18-year-old girl were among five people held by police for committing a spate of robberies in the southern and south-western police divisions on Thursday.
The suspects, who are from East Dry River, Port of Spain, were apprehended by officers of Oropouche Police Station who responded to an all-points bulletin (APB).
Police said the other suspects are three men, aged 25, 32, and 33 years.
The robberies were committed in Penal, Oropouche and Siparia.
Police said the crime spree began around 4.30 p.m. when the suspects allegedly held up patrons at Paradise Bar, SS Erin Road, Penal.
At gunpoint, the patrons were robbed of cash, jewelry and cellphones.
At 5.15 p.m., the thieves attacked employees at a house under renovation at the corner of Sandaye and Park streets, Siparia, and stole cash, cellphones and jewelry.
Twenty minutes later, the thieves struck at Mr Bigís Bar at Siparia Old Road, Avocat, where cash, jewelry and cellphones were also stolen.
Police issued an APB for a blue Nissan B-14 Sentra and a party of officers of the Oropouche station, including Sgt Ramsingh and Cpl Badree, intercepted the vehicle and arrested the suspects.
They were taken into custody and are expected to be placed on several identification parades over the next few days.
Police suspect the gang was involved in other robberies in the Central and Southern divisions earlier in the week.
