SAN Fernando police are investigating a report that a five-year-old girl was molested by a five-year-old boy at a primary school in San Fernando last week.

The report was made by the girl's mother, who has also filed a complaint with the Ministry of Education.

Both the boy and the girl are First Year pupils and attend separate schools.

The mother said her daughter told her a boy from a neighbouring school entered the school's compound last Thursday.

She said this should not be allowed since parents of First Year pupils pay $200 to the school administration for an extra security guard at the school.

The girl said after the boy approached her in the washrooms and assaulted her, she kicked him and he ran away.

The girl told her mother she reported the incident to a teacher.

The mother said neither the teacher nor the school principal acted on the matter.

On Friday, when the mother contacted the principal, a meeting was later held with the teacher to whom the child reported the matter.

The mother told the Express, "The principal seemed very concerned about clearing the teacher's name whom she made the report to, and not about the welfare of my child.

She said, however, the principal of the boy's school has been dealing with the matter, and has held a meeting with the boy's mother.

The principal of the school has also recommended counselling for him, which is expected to begin this week.
