EASTERN Division police are probing an incident in which a seven-year-old boy collapsed and died while playing in the yard of his home yesterday.
The boy was identified as Joshua Tang Yuk of Nariva Road, Manzanilla.
Tangyuk, police said, died hours later, around 11 a.m., while being treated at the Sangre Grande District Hospital.
He was playing in the yard of his home with his mother Arlene Scobie nearby, when he fell to the ground.
Police said they were told by Scobie that when she turned around she say her son lying motionless in the yard. She went to his assistance, performed CPR and called the Emergency Health Services which arrived later.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m., police said.
Officers are working on the theory that Tang Yuk may have struck his head and chest on a blunt object while playing in the yard.
There were marks on his chest, police said.
Woman Sgt Jermaline Mitchell of the Region II Homicide Bureau of Investigations, along with PCs Maxime, Sanchez, Samaroo and Castillo of the Manzanilla police and the Sangre Grande CID visited the scene. Maxime is probing the incident.
