Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez's popular Carnival 2012 song "Miss Behave" had hundreds of people obeying to "drop on the ground and roll" as her song commands during bmobile's Soca in B Square lunchtime concert at Woodford Square, Port of Spain, yesterday.
Despite the sun's blazing heat many people turned out as early as 11.30 a.m. to see Ian "Bunji Garlin" Alvarez and his wife rock the stage. At noon, every bit of available space inside Woodford Square was covered by a sea of people who greeted the couple by waving lime-green flags and band sticks which were distributed to them earlier by bmobile representatives.
The power couple, though not competing at this year's Soca Monarch Competition, felt the love from the crowd. Lyons-Alvarez got unwavering support from her husband, who shouted to the huge crowd while on stage, "This year Fay-Ann taking Road March."
To this, the crowd roared in response.
Singing songs like "Start Winning", "Heavy T Bumper", "All Over" and "Get On", Lyons-Alvarez had the crowd going crazy when they heard the melodic vocals from Baron as he came to the stage. Singing one of his most popular songs "Ah Feelin' It" had many swaying to the beat. Showing that he could "throw waist too", Baron stopped and did a few gyrations much to the delight of the crowd.
At the end of his delivery, Fay-Ann welcomed back her husband on stage and had a special treat for the audience, a compilation of tunes she entitled "The Best of Bunji" starting as far back as 2000 all the way up to present.
Lyons-Alvarez gave a verse and a chorus of each song. From "Jump Up", "Snake Oil" and "From de Ghetto" all received a welcomed response from the crowd. The one-hour show also saw performances by "Extreme Breakers" and "Problem Child"
The five-day concert series will feature artistes sponsored by the mobile service provider.
Fay-Ann ended the show with her song "Miss Behave" as many went back to their offices with an extra beat in their step.
