POLICE ON Thursday found two bullet proof vests, a shot gun and ammunition buried under bridge in Port of Spain. A party of police officers conducting a police exercise found the items near the bridge spanning the East Dry River in Belmont.
Police officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, Belmont CID, Guard and Emergency Branch conducted an exercise spearheaded by Senior Superintendant Malcom Alleyne, between 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
According to police, the officers received information and after searching the area discovered the firearm with 24 rounds of ammunition, and the vests wrapped in plastic and concealed in a hole.
No arrests were made in connection with the find.
However, also in the exercise, police arrested three men for possession of marijuana. Police said two of the suspects were arrested in Port of Spain and a third was arrested in Clifton Hill near the East Dry River.
The suspects were expected to be charged and taken to court today.
