Burning body found in Tortuga

The burnt body of a man was found under a pile of tyres near the Forres Park Landfill in Claxton Bay this morning. Police received an anonymous call that a body was spotted down a dirt track, 20 metres off the roadway at Cedar Hill Road, Tortuga, at around 10a.m.

Investigators found the body burnt beyond recognition, under the still smouldering tyres.

The area was cordoned off and the body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the body. Investigators asked that anyone with missing relatives to contact the Southern Division Homicide at 652-0495.
