A BURNT body has been found by police officers in the trunk of a Nissan Almera car. The remains are yet to be identified, and yesterday Senior Supt of the Central Division Johnny Abraham called on anyone with missing relatives who drive this type of vehicle to contact the Chaguanas Criminal Investigative Department or the Homicide Department.

The car was found yesterday in a gravel road, off Perseverance Road, Chaguanas. Police went to the location around 7 a.m. after receiving a telephone call. Earlier, two security guards had seen smoke and flames coming from the area. The body was burnt beyond recognition, but officers believe the person was a male.

The carís registration number and colour were also unidentifiable, police said.

Abraham, officers from the Central Division Task Force, crime scene officers and police photographers were at the location yesterday.

District medical officer Dr Ravi Kawal ordered the body removed, while the vehicle was towed away.
