THE five-year-old child warded at hospital after a pot of hot water fell on him is recovering from his injuries.
On Thursday, police reported that Prince Coutanio was at home in New City, Fyzabad when he pulled the pot of water down from a stove in the kitchen while his mother was attending to Coutanio’s baby sibling in a bedroom.
Coutanio was rushed to the Siparia District Health Facility and later transferred to San Fernando General Hospital.
Yesterday, the Express spoke with Coutanio’s relatives who said he was “ resting comfortably”.
Coutanio suffered burns on his chest, abdomen and leg but the relatives said the burns were not major.
They said his mother Nyo John, 35 was tending to him every day at the hospital and doctors will decide when he will return home.
They said police were continuing their investigations.
Councillor for Siparia West/Fyzabad Maurice Alexander visited the home yesterday and said he will try to assist in any way he can.
