Businessman robbed of $.25m outside bank

A PRINCES Town businessman was robbed of $267,000 cash only minutes after withdrawing the cash from a bank at Chaguanas yesterday.

Soondrlal Mohan, 59, a contractor and real estate agent, said he had withdrawn the money from the Republic Bank branch at Centre City Mall.

Mohan told the Express at around 2.15 p.m. he had exited the bank carrying the cash in a leather Samsonite case, and got into his car to go to the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) at Ramsaran Street.

Mohan said he was about to alight from his vehicle when he was confronted by two thieves, one of whom had a firearm. He said one of the thieves told him to hand over the bag, to which he complied, and they escaped in a Nissan B-12 Sentra.

Mohan made a report to the Chaguanas Police Station and Constable Bickram is investigating.
