A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries when his car crashed into a concrete wall in Marabella yesterday.
Chunks of concrete from the wall struck three employees of the Community-based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme (CEPEP).
Chris Samaroo was driving his purple Nissan Cefiro car north along the Southern Main Road when he lost control near Republic Bank.
Police said Samaroo’s car slammed into two concrete pillars and a wall at around 4.40 a.m.
The concrete debris struck the CEPEP workers who were standing on the pavement.
The three men were on their way to a jobsite in Marabella, police said.
Investigators said Samaroo, of Tarouba Road, Marabella, was pinned inside the mangled car.
He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit last evening.
The CEPEP workers were treated at hospital and sent home.
Marabella police are investigating.
