LEARIE Ceballo was shot in his head before being decapitated, an autopsy found on Friday.

Ceballo, who was beheaded a week after he was released from prison, was given his final rites in a private ceremony yesterday.

His relatives at his home at Coconut Drive, La Romaine, said that Ceballo would be buried, not cremated.

"We do not want to speak about his death any more," a female relative told the Express.

"We want no more of this."

On Thursday, Ceballo's head was discovered on a bar table in Rambert Village, La Romaine, and the rest of his body was found some five kilometres away in a canefield near Debe.

Forensic examinations were conducted at the Forensic Science Centre, St James on Thursday and Friday.

Pathologist Dr Eslyn McDonald-Burris found that Ceballo died from the gunshot wound and decapitation.

Homicide investigators said they were exploring a drug link in the case.

They said that Ceballo had a criminal history of narcotics and firearms and ammunition charges.
