Charged with indecent assault, kidnapping

By Nikita Braxton-Benjamin

Stephen Agard appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court yesterday, charged with kidnapping and indecently assaulting a 23-year-old woman whom he struck with his car after he allegedly stole her $6,000 cellular phone.

Defence attorney Jason Jackson asked for bail for Agard, 28, of Tarouba,  whom he said had been in custody since Christmas Eve.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington ordered that Agard return to court on January 27 after he placed him on $90,000 bail to cover the four charges.

The alleged incidents occurred on December 20.

The woman was awaiting transportation in San Fernando when she was allegedly kidnapped and taken to Debe.

She struggled with her attacker whom she bit and stabbed in the chest when he attempted to take off her clothing.

She was able to escape and get                 help.
