Child molester commits suicide

By Nikita Braxton-Benjamin

A 38-year-old labourer who vowed to kill himself after he told relatives he had been sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, has made good on his promise.

Family members yesterday found the man hanging from a tree located in bushes at La Brea.

His body was discovered around 3.30 p.m.

Relatives had been searching for the man since he went into hiding after he confessed that he had been assaulting the child since she was six years old.

The latest incident happened two Sundays ago.

The girl was seen crying on a couch in the man's living room and when questioned, she told relatives of the abuse.

The girl who lives with her mother, had been staying with a relative on weekends.

The man had apologised for his actions and said he would commit suicide.

He then fled from the house and evaded relatives and police officers who were searching for him.

La Brea police officers are continuing investigations.
