THE Couva Police Youth Club hosted its annual Children's Christmas treat on Sunday, providing gifts and treats to 200 children in Couva and surrounding areas.

The event was held at the Couva Multipurpose Hall in Camden.

Club leader Police Corporal Reuben Commissiong said $32,000 was spent to treat the children who were selected by him and other members of the Police Service.

Member of Parliament for Couva South Rudranath Indarsingh attended and made a brief address.

The children were also addressed by Sharon Corbet -- Commander of the Couva Police Youth Club, Assistant Superintendent Curtis Paul and Fofie George, public relations officer for the National Gas Company (NGC).

The NGC was the main sponsor of the event.

The children enjoyed themselves in the bouncy castles, playing various games, getting their faces painted and spending time with Christmas character Santa Claus.

Officers from the Chaguanas Fire Station also participated in the event.

The club's next major event is the club launching of its Carnival band next week.
