Concert to raise $$ for sick comedian

By Carolyn Kissoon

Friends of comedian/presenter Damion Melville will host a benefit concert to raise funds for his medical treatment.

Melville suffered an injury to his neck and was diagnosed with a pinched nerve.

His friend, Jillian Smith, said Melville required specific physiotherapy and may have to undergo corrective surgery.

"A couple of his friends have come together to put on a benefit concert to offset his medical bills," she said.

A pinched nerve is caused when a nerve is somehow damaged or injured by direct pressure or compression and is unable to properly conduct its signal. There are many potential causes for a pinched nerve, depending on the location of the nerve, medical reports state.

Melville is an announcer at Wack Radio.

The charity concert takes place at Skiffle Bunch panyard, Coffee Street, San Fernando, on November 10.

The event, "A Little Bit of This ... A Little Bit of That!", will feature entertainment by Baron, Winston "Gypsy" Peters, Sugar Aloes, Duane O'Connor, Karen Asche, Ras Commander, Lady Adana, Myron B, Big George Gonzales, Ghetto Flex and Errol Fabien among others.

Tickets are priced at $250 and are available at Gayelle the Channel and Wack Radio.
