Cop on drunk driving charge

A police officer with two years’ service appeared in court yesterday charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Kevin Felix, 29, who was attached to the Chaguanas Task Force, pleaded not guilty before Rio Claro Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh.

It is alleged Felix consumed so much alcohol that he had a reading 15 microgrammes over the legal 35 microgrammes limit.

The breathalyser test was conducted at Rio Claro Police Station on Saturday night.

The test was done after Felix was involved in a vehicular accident at Brickfield Village in Tabaquite.

The $500 bail he obtained at the station was revoked and Felix was placed on $1,000 own bail by the court.

He will return to court on May 19.
