POLICE are expected to consult with Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard today on whether to charge a 38-year-old relative of Knolly Hudlin with his murder.
The suspect has been in police custody since his arrest on Sunday at a house in Princes Town.
On Carnival Tuesday, Hudlin, 62, was stabbed three times in the chest. One wound pierced his heart, an autopsy found.
In January, Hudlin and his wife, Phoebe Ryan, had taken out a protection order against the suspect after months of violent behaviour in their house.
Hudlin was attacked in the yard of his home at Penal Rock Road, Penal, after police officers the Penal Police Station failed to arrest the suspect who was on their property for almost three hours.
Ryan also told the Express the suspect was previously examined by doctors at the St Ann’s Hospital and the psychiatric ward of the San Fernando General Hospital, and the family was told he was not mentally unstable.
Police said the suspect was interrogated by homicide detectives on Monday.
