Cops: Traffic plan worked

While traffic restrictions implemented in Port of Spain yesterday to facilitate the funeral of former president Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson may have inconvenienced some, up to late yesterday, there were no reports of serious incidents resulting from the change in traffic flow.

This was confirmed yesterday afternoon by Senior Supt of the Port of Spain Division, Cyril Harry, in a brief telephone interview with Express.

He said: “Thus far, no one has reported to me any incidents, and I have heard nothing negative arising out of the change in traffic flow. Hopefully, citizens of this country would have been paying attention to the alerts which would have been given before, and they would have been prepared for the changes over the next few days.

“Obviously these changes will cause a bit of an inconvenience but I am hoping that citizens will exercise some patience and bear with these restrictions, because, these instructions were given as a way of recognising the deceased and the meaningful contributions he would have made to this country throughout his career.

“So I am asking the citizens who are coming into Port of Spain for (today and tomorrow) to bear with us just a little bit as we honour this statesman.”
