Cops find 471 bullets, ganja, gun
The Police Service today reported the seizure of more than 18 kilogrammes of marijuana, a gun, and 471 rounds of ammunition during anti crime exercises.
At around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday officers of the Northern Division Task Force under the supervision of Sgt Haywood executed a search warrant at a house at Getwell Avenue, Pinto Road Arima where a pistol and 108 assorted rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Two men, aged 32 and 24 were arrested and charged.
Between 3a.m. and 9a.m. today, an anti-crime exercise was conducted in the Champ Fleurs District under the supervision of Sgt Maharaj and included officers of the Criminal Investigation Departments and the Task Force. Several search warrants were executed and one pistol and 7 rounds of 9mm ammunition together with 18.40 kg of marijuana with an estimated street value of $276 000. were recovered. Three persons were arrested.
In Point Fortin on Monday, officers of the South Western Division Task Force under the supervision of Sgt Richardson, acting on a tip, went to an abandoned house at Techier Village Point Fortin where they found and seized 356 assorted rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested.
