TEN people have been arrested in an early morning exercise in the Beetham, involving the police and Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.
Officers led by Snr Supt Wayne Boyd, ASP Ajith Persad and Insp Singh went to Phase Five Beetham Gardens commonly called Hell Yard and began a search.
Police said several stolen items including clothes and sneakers were recovered and several outstanding warrants were executed. Several rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Among those arrested was a suspect with the nickname "Chemist".
Police went door to door in the area as they continued their exercise which began at 4 a.m and ended at 10 a.m.
Officers of the Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB), Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), Port of Spain Division, Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) and Besson Street Police station were part of the exercise.
The exercise followed a police raid in East Port of Spain on Sunday where 89 people were arrested. Some 47 were released without charge one day later. The raid police said is part of an ongoing zero tolerance on crime in the area. More exercises are expected.
