HOMICIDE detectives were yesterday trying to determine if the killing of a Pelican Street Extension, Morvant, man yesterday was linked to Saturday's killing of a wo- man from the same area.

Residents of Halls Lane reported hearing several loud explosions at around 2.30 p.m. yesterday.

The police were summoned and they discovered 36-year-old Marvin Brewster lying in a drain with several gunshot wounds, a short distance away from his home.

Brewster was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at around 3.15 p.m.

One woman, identified as a relative of Brewster, said he was unemployed and was a heavy consumer of alcohol.

At the scene yesterday were officers from the Morvant CID, including Inspector Jacob, Sgt James and Cpl Morton. Homicide officers included Acting Inspector Lawrence, Cpl Serville and PC Balchan.

At around 3.25 a.m. on Saturday, 30-year-old Ayanna Williams and her boyfriend, Michael Boyne, were asleep at Williams' Pelican Street Extension, Morvant, home when a man broke down the front door and opened fire as they slept.

Williams was shot 13 times about the body and died on the spot while Boyne was shot in both arms and left leg. The gunman fled the scene without taking anything.

Reporters were told by investigators that Williams worked as an informer for a major gang in Morvant whose leader is currently in prison.
