Cops find drugs at Piarco bound for the US

POLICE discovered a suitcase containing approximately $1.2 million worth of cocaine at Piarco International Airport on Wednesday.

Officers of the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau (OCNFB) said they were on duty at the airport around 5.30 p.m., when they noticed the unattended suitcase in the corridor.

When no one approached the suitcase after some time, the officers decided to carry out a search of its contents. Upon opening the suitcase the officers found several bags containing a white powdery substance weighing three kilogrammes.

The officers seized the suitcase, which was tagged for a flight to the United States.
