Cops identify man shot dead

POLICE have identified the body of a man who was shot and killed after he and two other persons fired shots at three other men in Laventille on Thursday.

The dead man has been identified as Gabriel Vialva, 18, of Waterwheel Road, Diego Martin.

He was positively identified by relatives at the Forensic Science Centre in St James yesterday. His relatives declined to speak saying that the media had labelled him as a gunman.

Police believe Vialva was shot and killed by accident by one of his accomplices while he and two other men were chasing two brothers and another man at Trou Macaque Road, Laventille.

The brothers- David Grant, 29, and Atiba Grant, 32, remained warded in serious condition at the Port of Spain General Hospital after they were shot about their bodies while fleeing.

Police said around 6.30 a.m. yesterday, the Grant brothers were in company with a 36-year-old man outside their home when a silver Nissan AD Wagon motorcar pulled up alongside them and shots were fired.
