FOUR policemen attached to the Ste Madeleine Police Station are under investigation for the abduction and assault of the brother of a policeman some five months ago.
The police officers, all constables, were detained yesterday morning in their homes by the Professional Standards Bureau.
The officers were taken to the Belmont Police Station, and they were expected to be placed on identification parades. According to a police source, the investigation stems from an incident earlier this year when the four police constables were on duty.
The four were on patrol when they allegedly picked up the policeman's brother against his will and took him to an area in south Trinidad where they beat him.
After the beating, the took the victim to the Ste Madeleine Police station where he was detained.
While in custody, no report was taken from the victim, nor was he charged with an offence.
He was released the next day.
