Customs clerk killed at home
A CUSTOMS Clerk was shot dead early yesterday morning at his Malick, Barataria home during a robbery.
The killing brought the year’s murder toll to 279 according to an Express count.
Police said that around 3.50 a.m., Upper Seventh Avenue neighbours of the victim, Roberto Simon Baptiste heard several gunshots coming from his home.
They called the police. When officers arrived on the scene found the body of the 35-year-old man lying in the kitchen of the house.
Further investigations showed that several items including jewelry, money and electronics were missing from the house leading police to speculate that the motive behind his death was robbery.
Baptiste’s body was later moved to the Port of Spain Mortuary and a post mortem is expected to be done today at the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.—GG
