Cyclist dies in hit-and-run

A cyclist who was struck on January 3 by a vehicle that never stopped has died.

Dexter Eligon, 35, was reportedly riding with a companion, Ako Hercules, at around 5.30 a.m. along Soogrim Trace West, Enterprise, when both were struck by a vehicle.

The men were thrown into a concrete drain and suffered multiple injuries.

Eligon, a labourer, of Goodwill Road, Enterprise, died January 11, at hospital, from a fractured neck and head injuries.

Hercules is being treated for injuries. The death is the ninth road fatality for the year.
