De Fosto to face the music first at Calypso Fiesta

By Kimoy Leon Sing

Winston "DeFosto" Scarborough, who received a lot of toilet paper from fans last year and even wrote his 2012 composition on the experience titled "San Fernando Has Spoken" will perform in position number one at the semi-finals of the 2012 Calypso Monarch tomorrow, at Skinner Park, San Fernando from noon.

And while some may see this as a disadvantage, De Fosto says he is confident and ready. Hoping to be a hard act to follow he did not see performing at position number one any different from any other number.

The 40 participants gathered at the Queen's Park Savannah yesterday to draw for their positions for the show which is popularly known as Calypso Fiesta.

Among them were Anthony Hendrickson better known as All Rounder who shouted "Garlic Sauce" just before he drew number 19. Hollis Liverpool (Chalkdust) performs in position number ten. Michael Osouna (Sugar Aloes) drew number 33 and Joanne Rowley (Tigress) drew 20.

The finalists on Dimanche Gras night will come up against current title holder Karene Asche.

Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) president Lutalo "Brother Resistance" Masimba said, "One of the most beautiful things about calypso is that when we compete we compete with a different kind of vibe.

"It is like a warrior going into battle and we pray that calypso continues to make its mark on the world."
