Decomposing body found

THE DECOMPOSING body of a woman with a plastic bag placed over her head was found by police officers in Macoya yesterday evening.

However, up to late evening, investigators said they were unable to identify the woman.

Police said at around 4 p.m., officers at the Tunapuna Police Station received an anonymous phone call stating that the body was seen on the southern side of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway off Centenary Street Extension.

Homicide detectives arrived on the scene shortly after and discovered the body lying several feet off the side of the highway.

Police said they suspected that the person may have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the side of the highway.

Up to press time investigators were still on the scene.

Tunapuna detectives are continuing the probe into the discovery and have not yet classified the killing.
