Works and Infrastructure Minister Jack Warner assured yesterday that works on the Diego Martin Highway Improvement project will recommence in February 2012 and be completed by June 2012.

Warner was responding to a motion on the adjournment of the House yesterday which was moved by Diego Martin North East MP Colm Imbert on the issue.

Imbert said that in February 19, 2011, Warner made a number of statements where he promised that the works on phase two, three and four of that project would be completed this year.

"I can say without any fear of contradiction whatsoever having passed by this project  that not a blade of grass has moved on phases two, three and four of the Diego Martin Highway improvement project since the 18th of February 2011" said Imbert.

He noted a newspaper article where Warner said that phase three of the project would commence by April 2011 and phase four on May 9th 2011.

"Nothing has happened despite the promises of the Minister," said Imbert.

In response Warner said he understands Imbert's anxiety.

"We are guided by our advisers and our advisors will tell us based on all their studies and so on date, cost completion date and so. Mr Speaker it was based on the advice given to me in my capacity as Minister of Works and Transport then that I admit I gave those dates and which dates subsequently I was told my the advisors they could not make" he said.
