Diego man shot dead

By Rickie Ramdass

A DIEGO MARTIN man became the latest murder victim after he was shot several times about the body on Wednesday night.

The death of 33-year-old Kenrick McMillan has pushed the murder toll for the year to 40.

Investigators said at around 8.30 p.m., McMillan, of Cuthbert Circular Road, was standing along the roadway when he was approached by a lone gunman who opened fire.

Despite being hit several times about the body, police said McMillan managed to run a short distance before collapsing.

The gunman then calmly walked up to the injured man, stood over him and fired more shots to his upper body before escaping, said police.

McMillan, however, did not die at the scene. He was taken to Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead while undergoing surgery.

Officers said up to yesterday evening they were not able to establish a clear motive for McMillan's killing.

Homicide detectives are continuing investigations.
