12 male suspects are expected to appear before a Port of Spain magistrate today to face charges of marijuana possession and loitering, after they were held on Thursday night during an exercise in Port of Spain.
The suspects were arrested during an exercise carried out by officers of the Port of Spain CID Task Force, led by Snr Supt Glen Hackett, acting Insp Harvey Jawahir and Cpl Andre at Victoria Square.
Officers said they had received numerous complaints from residents living near several squares in Port of Spain regarding illicit activities taking place in the squares.
Between 8 p.m. and midnight on Thursday, CID Task Force officers raided Victoria Square and held 12 males, many of them dressed as females, and one female for loitering and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. The suspects range between ages 19-40.
