A 29-year-old man died last night after his trailer truck crashed 30 metres down a precipice along the North Coast Road near the "pillars" in Maraval.

Trucker Ameer Razack was transporting an excavator secured to a trailer when he lost control along the winding roadway, at around 8.45p.m.

Police said Razack was pulled out of the wreck and taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he died.

Investigators said Razack was maneuvering the truck around a corner, when he lost control. The vehicle skidded off the roadway and went down the precipice.

Fire officers were unable to remove the truck last night. Officers returned to the scene this morning. Razack lived at Richard Lane, Cunupia, and operated a small contracting company.
