Ex-newsman held with gun

A former newspaper reporter was yesterday arrested by officers of the Tunapuna Police Station for possession of arms and ammunition.

According to police reports, officers of the station went to the home of an ex-security officer located at the corner of Meade Street and Henry Road, El Dorado just after 6 p.m.

The officers, who had a search warrant in the name of the ex-security officer, searched the home and discovered a .38 pistol and 10 rounds of .38 ammunition. Five rounds of 12 gauge ammunition were also discovered in the house.

The men were arrested and taken to the Tunapuna Police Station.

Police Constable Pereira of the Tunapuna Police Station is spearheading enquiries.
