Fabien to set new date for campaign launch
COMEDIAN and media personality Errol Fabien is serious about contesting the upcoming St Joseph by-election and has postponed the launch of his campaign until he has registered with the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC).
Fabien was supposed to have launched his campaign yesterday, but cancelled on Saturday.
On his Facebook page, Fabien said: “I feel I should be a legitimately registered candidate before I launch, though. I am learning this as I go along. I just got a campaign manager and life is already getting easier” when asked why he postponed the launch.
The launch was scheduled to take place at the St Joseph Savannah yesterday afternoon.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced November 4 as the day for the by-election, which came in the wake of former member of parliament Herbert Volney’s resignation from the United National Congress.
The Constitution states if an MP resigns from the party for which he was elected, the Speaker has the authority to declare that seat vacant, effectively triggering a by-election.
Fabien would announce the new date for the launch of his campaign later this week.
