Family homeless after Belmont blaze

A BELMONT house was gutted yesterday morning, leaving a family in despair.

The house is located at the corner of Braithwaite and Agard Lanes in Belmont and the fire is believed to have began around 8.30 a.m.

According to Tara Lutchman, she was at work when her neighbour telephoned her about her house being on fire.

She said when she arrived, officers of Belmont Fire Station and Belmont Police Station were already on the scene and the fire had been brought under control.

“The fire officers really performed,” she said.

She added that almost everything in the house had been destroyed.

Neither she nor the fire officers were able to say what caused the blaze.

Lutchman lives at the house with her two daughters and they will have to find somewhere to stay until their home is repaired.
