Family seeks help after home collapses

By Susan Mohammed susan.mohammed@trinidadexpress.com

A PREGNANT mother and her family of five are now homeless after their house collapsed in Ste Madeleine on Friday.

Crystal Henry, 27, said she and husband, Lebert Bonterre, and their children, ages 12, ten and ten months old, had nowhere to spend Friday night.

Henry, who is six months pregnant, said the wooden one-bedroom house at a squatters' settlement in Stanley Ville collapsed during heavy rains.

She said: "We only heard a noise and we felt the house shake. We ran outside and the house collapsed. We built and moved in here one week ago. Our other house was also about to fall, too."

Henry said her husband receives public assistance since he suffers from epilepsy. Neither she nor her husband are employed.

The pregnant mother said her children do not have school supplies for the new school term which opens tomorrow.

Anyone who can assist the family can contact them at 366-4536.
