Filipino man in critical condition after stabbing

By Alexander Bruzual

A Filipino man is currently warded at the Port of Spain General Hospital in a critical condition after he was reportedly stabbed several times about his chest on Saturday morning. According to police reports, Ramono Decruz, 23, and two brothers, aged 25 and 27, were said to be doing construction work near the Hyatt Regency Hotel along Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, when the three men got into an argument. Decruz was seen leaving the area.

However, he reportedly returned to the scene with a wheel spanner.
He confronted the two brothers and began hitting one of them.
It was at this point police said, the other brother left the scene and returned with a knife which he used, with the assistance of his brother, to stab Decruz multiple times in the chest. The three men, police said, were eventually separated by officials working at the hotel.
The police and emergency health services were immediately notified.

All three men were rushed to the hospital where they were treated.
The two brothers are now in the custody of officers from the Port of Spain Central Police Station, while, up to press time, Decruz was said to still be warded in a critical condition.
Investigations are continuing.
