Fisherman shot dead near home

A 39-YEAR-old Claxton Bay fisherman was shot dead near his home yesterday evening. Sunil Mathura, of Sookoo Trace, was found slumped behind the wheel of a vehicle.
According to a police report, at around 5.50 p.m. a resident of Macaulay Trace Extension, Claxton Bay, was at his home when he heard several loud explosions.
The resident told police that upon checking the roadway he saw a Nissan B-13 Sentra with Mathura motionless in the driver's seat. The engine was still running.
The resident contacted authorities and a party of police officers of the Southern and Central Police Divisions, as well as Homicide Division (South) visited the scene.
District Medical Officer Dr Silochan examined the body and ordered it removed to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy today. The car was impounded by police and is to be inspected and examined for evidence. Polcie have no motive for teh killing.
