Former cameraman arrested

By Rickie Ramdass

A FORMER television cameraman was arrested on Thursday night after he allegedly attempted to extort money from several men who were caught on film in the process of assaulting another man.

He was questioned and, up to late yesterday evening, officers were reportedly conducting several identification parades.

Police said the former cameraman, along with another man, went to the home of the men who carried out the assault and told them if they were to pay $30,000, the clip would not be broadcast on television.

Investigators said the men secretly used their cellular phones to record the conversation with the cameraman, which they later carried to the police.

If identified during the parade, police said the cameraman would be charged with attempting to extort money under false pretences.
