Four held for drunk driving

A radio announcer was among four people arrested for drunk driving in San Fernando yesterday.
The four motorists were detained during a police exercise from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. along Cipero Street. The men told officers they were returning from the Chutney Soca Monarch competition which was held at Skinner Park.
Police said the drivers were stopped during routine checks and administered the breathalyser test. The four recorded above 100 microgrammes of alcohol and were taken into custody at the San Fernando Police Station.
Ten other persons were charged with other traffic offenses.
The exercise was spearheaded by senior superintendent Cecil Santana and supervised by sergeant Vijay Ramdhanie.
The 14 persons will appear before a San Fernando Magistrate this morning.
